Hi, I’m Vanessa Stein (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Supervisor providing virtual therapy in Florida. I created Radical Care, LLC to support those who care for others: therapists, healthcare professionals, college students starting clinical practice, and members of the military and veteran community, through thoughtful, affirming, and person-centered therapy.

I’m a lifelong Floridian who feels most grounded outside in the sunshine, on a hike, in the water, or just soaking up fresh air. I’m also a mom, a veteran spouse, an elder millennial, and a person who wears a hearing aid. These parts of my identity shape the way I approach this work: with empathy, presence, and a deep belief that people deserve space to be fully seen and heard.

I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Central Florida. I began my career in hospital settings as a case manager and discharge planner, helping people with complex medical needs regain autonomy and access essential support. I then moved into hospice and home health care, where I supported caregivers and families navigating difficult decisions and preparing for the end of life.

I also served as the Command Ombudsman for a Navy Reserve Center, providing information, connection, and emotional support to service members and their families. That experience deepened my understanding of the unique stressors military families face—and affirmed my commitment to providing virtual therapy that meets people where they are, both literally and emotionally.

For the past 12 years, I’ve worked in a variety of roles at a large public university, gaining deep experience in college mental health, therapist supervision, and online education. I’ve provided evidence-based virtual therapy, facilitated countless workshops on emotional wellness and burnout, and taught graduate courses in clinical theory, diversity, group work, and practice methods.

Today, you can find me in my home office, usually surrounded by plants and accompanied by my dog, who’s probably asleep nearby. Outside of work, I love to read, crochet, complete puzzles, and play mahjong. I’m often planning my next travel adventure or ferociously reading.
